An incomplete cast lead fabric weight of modern date. The weight is circular with a flat rectangular cross-section. A small part of the weight has been lost to old worn breaks. There are two parallel perforations through which the weight would have been attached. The metal is a mid greyish-white colour and is worn. The weight is 33.8mm in diameter, 3.2mm thick and weighs 26.6g. Despite their resemblance to large plain buttons, that these objects are in fact weights used to weigh down the hems of curtains or the hems of ladies' dresses. They are still available to buy new today.
