The object is a long grooved vessel which expands to 7.6mm wide in the centre and tapers to a wide point at either end. The groove is a shallow U shape in cross section and is 4.1mm wide in the centre, and at maximum, 1mm deep owing to wear up the upper margins. The object comprises three connected openwork trefoil rings (of which two survives intact) and a probable central motif of a horses head projecting 90 degrees from the centre of the object. The bow is plano-convex and is curved,  terminating with a broken point. The brooch is a gold version of a fibula or ‘safety pin’ type brooch commonly known as a Birdlip Type Brooch or Beaked Bow Brooch. The fragment comprises a portion of a rounded- to -sub-rectangular sectioned bar with a low oval expansion or collar at the end.
