A fragment from a Roman hair pin. The shaft is truncated by a transverse break. This is circular in cross section and then at its top has moulded decoraton. This begins with four transverse raised collars each sepereated by a gouge, above this is then a pear shaper knop at thet of which is a smaller collar and projecting D-shaped knop. The pin is an orange brown colour. The pin is 27.3mm long, 6.4mm wide, and weighs 3.20 grams. There are several similar pins illustrated by Cool (1990: figs 2.13, 3.9, and 4.5).

The incomplete head of an Early Medieval gilded copper alloy disc-headed pin, dating to c. AD 570 - 620. Description: The disc is flat and approximately circular, due to more than half of the original circumference missing. It has an outer raised border (it is along this that the missing part of the edge has broken away) and is pierced by two small circular holes. Middle Anglo-Saxon copper-alloy pin with globular head and an integral collared shaft. The shaft is bent once (around 70-80 degrees) and may be complete. It measures approximately 42mm from the collar at base of the head to the tapering but blunt tip. The head is almost entirely covered with punched ring-and-dot impressions. A complete but distorted copper alloy pin of most likely Roman date, although an Early Medieval date cannot be fully discounted. The head of the pin is plain and globular and c. 4.7mm in diameter. Below the head is a moulded, raised band, however this is not so pronounced as the collars normally seen on Early Medieval examples. An incomplete lead pin of uncertain date. The pin is oval in cross section and takes the form of a long narrowing point in plan. The widest section is slightly flattened on its terminal and it narrows to a slightly chisel like pointed terminal.  It is an off whilte colour with an irregular surface.  This object is 28.56mm long, (4.45mm wide at the flattened end), it is 1.634.2mm thick at the point and weighs 1.33 grams

An incomplete Roman copper-alloy pin, dating to c.AD 43 - 410. The head of the pin is globular and then divided into three segments below. Each of the segments are rectangular and separated by narrow waists, each of rectangular segments have three flanked moulded ridges. The remainder of the pin conists of the shaft, it is cylindrical.
