A fragment of a wheel thrown ceramic vessel of Post-Medieval date, circa AD 1550 - 1750.  The fragment is a decorated rim, and body sherd with a flat edge to the upper end and irregular worn breaks to the other sides and a curved profile. The fabric has a gray core with dark white edges and an applied green glaze to the inner and outer surfaces. The exterior surface of the vessel fragment is decorated at its widest point with two remaining parallel thumb impressions. The fragment is 51.3mm long, 44.8mm wide, 18.5mm thick and weighs 35.9g.

Ceramic building material. Sandy oxidised fabric; two small concavo-convex sherds, land drain tile fragments. Fiercely abraded. The manufacture of tubular land drain tiles became possible with the invention of extrusion machinery in the 1840s. Given a long family occupation of the farm whence these were reported, these were probably introduced by an ancestor of the finder, a point which may occur in records maintained if any such survive. Suggested date: Post-Medieval to Modern, 1850-1950 Combined Weight: 63.28gms
