A contemporary copy of a gold Roman solidus of Leo I dating to the period AD 457-474. VICTORIA AVGGGS reverse type, mint of Constantinopole. This coin is under weight compared to other examples recorded, and the metal appears to have been gilded and is either copper alloy or a heavily alloyed gold. The coin is in very good condition with little wear. c.f. RIC X 605
