A complete copper alloy trade weight from a stacking set dating to the post-medieval period (c. AD 1600-1800). The weight is circular in plan and rectangular in section, with a raised rim on the obverse and incised, lathe-turned lines on that interior surface. The stamps on the obverse's inner recessed surface are very worn and now indiscipherable. The weight has a grey-green patina and small patches of corrosion. The object is composed of a flat sectioned, sub-ovate disc, the upper portion is missing due to a transverse break with a short sectioned recurved toward the remained of the object. A sub-circular perforation is retained within the upper section of the object. One face of the object has short section of a decorative motif, possibly foliate. The other surface is undecorated. Length: 37.71mm, Width: 48.47mm, Thickness: 3.76mm, Weight: 36.7g The metal is cream/grey in colour with a slightly pitted patina.

The weight is broadly acorn shaped with a circular cross section and a flat base.  The base is a white/grey colour, and the rest is a grey material. An iron bar projects from the top and bottom of the weight which would have formed a rounded suspension loop. The item is 20mm tall, 15.6mm in diameter and weighs 22.8g.

It could date from any time betwwen the Roman and post medieval periods, but probably is medieval.
