Lead weight. Cast discoid weight with an uneven upper surface on which appear straight lines moulded in bold relief. The lines may represent two separate arrowhead forms or perhaps an untidy monogram including letter forms resembling M and V. A lead alloy weight. It is shaped like an elongated sphere. The neck is long and flat, sub rectangular in shape. In the centre, near the tip is a suspension hole. The base is flat in the centre and would therefore stand. Weights like these are seen in the Roman (for example SUSS-EA2CCC) and Medieval (NLM-5D1F37) periods. The weight of 192g does not accord with the Roman weight system, as 1 semis is equivalent to 164.5g.
