A piedfort or piéfort striking of the coin-type known as the double parisis of Charles IV the Fair, King of France (1322-1328). This version of the type was originally introduced in 1323. The reference to the coin is J. Duplessy, Les monnaies françaises royales (1988) no. 244b; an alternative reference work, J. A silver "love token" of post-medieval date. The surfaces of the coin have been worn (deliberately ?) smooth and so the ruler cannot be identified. The size and form suggest that it is a milled sixpence, probably of William III. The coin has two deliberate folds. It measures 19.4mm diameter by 0.9mm thick and weighs 1.62g.
