A copper alloy strap end of Early Medieval date, Thomas class E3, dating from AD 900-1100. The strap end is tongue-shaped (sub-rectangular with a pointed end), with a straight upper edge which splits to accommodate the strap. There are the remains of two copper alloy rivets through the split part. A raised double longitudinal ridge runs down the centre of the front. The front face is also covered with stamped ring and dot motifs. the back is plain. The strap end is 31.1mm long, 15.7mm wide and 4.7mm thick. It weighs 7.64g. It has a grey patina.

A copper alloy strap end of Thomas class A, type 1, dating from the Early Medieval date, about  AD 750 - 950. It is zoomorphic, with an animal head terminal. In plan, it is sub-rectangular, square at the attachment end and tapering to the terminal at the outer end. The front face is decorated with a moulded design consisting of a simple palmette above a sub-rectangular cartouche. The panels contains Trewhiddle style backward facing quadruped. Medieval tongue-shaped strap-end with a lozengiform knop, formed from two copper alloy sheet plates secured by a rivet near both edges. Decayed leather, now c.1mm thick, extends between the plates for 10mm from the attachment edge. Below this the plates are in direct contact. Weight 1.52g. Length 23.5mm. Width 8.2mm. 14th century.
