An incomplete, copper alloy strap end of 'crescentic' type and Medieval in date (c. AD 1400-1500).
The terminal, shaped like a scallop, rounded with nine lobes radiating from the centre of the shell, and only a small portion of the crescentic attachment end has survived. Above the scallop motif are two circular rivet holes still containing part of the rivets. The crescent plate is missing.

The strap end is broadly rectangular in form with a split end, which tapers towards the closed end with a very worn zoomorphic terminal. The zoomorphic terminal comprises an abstract face of inward curled ears and a now smoothed out pointed face; with faint traces of raised curved, angular moulded recess for eyes and a wedge-shaped snout. The box chape is of the 'lyre shaped' buckle group as found at Meols (Griffiths et. al. 2007, Pl. 17, No. 765). The strap was fitted into a rectangular socket through which are two rivets, 2.30 mm in diameter. On one of its faces is a grid of fives incised longitudinal lines cross three transverse incised lines. The other face is plain.
