Post-medieval copper alloy asymmetrical flat mount with two round-sectioned integral attachment spikes on the reverse. Similar in form to many examples, e.g. SUR-2822FC, LIN-81712E and BH-B115A9, the latter with a list of others, but differing in one small detail: there are two small notches, rather than one, in the centre of the heart-shaped end. Both spikes, complete and not bent, taper along their length to a point and would not have been attached to leather with any confidence. Weight 1.52g. Length 19mm. Width 11.7mm. Small silver shield-shaped flat mount with two holes, probably for separate rivets, one in the centre near the top and the other near the base. There are two incurved scallops on the top edge, with a point in the centre, and the front face is decorated along all three edges with a row of hand-punched dots. Weight 0.21g. Height 10mm. Width 9mm. Thickness 0.5mm.  Despite the handmade decoration, shields of this shape (with a double incurve to the top) are only found in the post-medieval period, most commonly from the 18th century onwards, and so this mount is likely to be 18th…

Medieval copper-alloy bar-mount from a belt. It has a central expanded circular lobe between a pair of opposing and tapering arms of plano-convex cross-section, with a smaller sub-circular lobe at each end. The terminal lobes are each perforated with a single rivet hole. The central lobe has a large circular blind hole or recess on the front. The metal at the rear, or base of this recess does have a tiny hole near the edge, but this seems to be accidental. The reverse is flat, but there is an irregularly-shaped and poorly defined depression behind the central lobe, apparently due to a …

Medieval cast copper-alloy mount, probably from a horse harness. It is discoidal and features the bust of a noblewoman embossed on the front in high relief. The reverse is moderately and irregularly concave, not as a negative impression of the figure on the front, but probably as an unintentional distortion of the disc. There are two small fragments missing from separate parts of the edge, to non-recent breaks.
