An incomplete copper alloy Roman brooch of Langton Down type dating to the late Iron Age or early Roman period, c. 25-60 AD. Missing most of the arms and spring, pin, much of the bow, the foot and catchplate. The bow has a lenticular cross section and meets the hinge in a semi-circular sectioned head. The arms are cylindrical but incomplete and retain a fragment of a copper alloy spring. No decoration is evident.

An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman Headstud brooch dating from c.AD 75-200. The brooch is missing its pin, one wing, most of the bow, its foot and catch plate. The head of the brooch survives to a width of 16.2mm. The surviving wings are oval and pierced by a cylindrical hole down their width. An almost complete copper alloy brooch of headstud type. The bow has a moulded stud on the curve at the top. The short wings extend either side of the head, and above these the plate on which the missing spring and pin would have mounted is present, decorated with three horizontal lines. The bow ends with a circular foot. An incomplete a cast copper alloy Roman brooch of Colchester derivative, probably Harlow double-lugged type dating to the first century AD. The arms are hemi-cylindrical and enclose an iron spring held on an iron spindle with a chord held in a lug projecting from the centre. The mounting arrangment of the spring axis spindle is now concealed by rusted concretion. The bow is narrow and strongly arched, triangular in cross section and decorated with a ridge along the spine. The rest of the bow, the foot and the catchplate are missing.

The hollow cylindrical wings are undecorated, the upper bow has a central protruding rib along the bow, at the top of this ridge is a circular loop, the rib terminates at the foot of the brooch. A complete copper alloy penannular brooch of Roman date (AD 43-410). Fowler Type D, Booth type D7, Bayley & Butcher, 2004, Type P4. The object is circular in section and plan, with the terminals of the brooch recurved over the ring and flattened. The terminals have a central notched waist with a groove to either side to emulated animal heads. The pin is retained and is composed of a thin tapered wire which is recurved around the body of the brooch. Diameter: 29.69mm, Thickness: 4.08mm, Weight: 4.8g The metal is dark green in colour with a slightly pitted patina.
