A rim sherd of Roman storage vessel, found with Medieval to Post-Medieval sherds, picked up whilst metal detecting. The sherd has a light grey fabric with an oxidised outer surface. It has lost most of its inner surface, and measures 58.49mm in length, 47.12mm in width, 29.15mm in surviving thickness and weighs 62g.

A base sherd of a Late Iron Age to Roman Vectis Ware vessel (c. AD 1-c. AD 350). The sand-tempered sherd has a buff core with a grey outer face and a buff inner face. When complete the base would have had a diameter of about 9cm. The breaks appear to be recent. 35 x 45.5 x 7.4. Weight: 22.96g.

A body sherd from a pottery vessel. The sherd is irregular, broken on all sides. The inner surface displays pronounced rills and there is an unidentified residue adhering to both faces. The fabric is highly-fired, mid brownish-grey in colour and contains sand temper. The nature of this fabric is consistent with a Medieval coarseware vessel. The sherd is relatively unabraded. It measures 57.5mm long, 46.8mm wide and 7.9mm thick. It weighs 25.67g. See associated sherd BH-EAD984. It is likely that the two sherds are from the same vessel.

A pottery sherd from a cooking pot, probably medieval in date. The sherd is part of the base and body. It is a dark brown colour on the exterior, and an orange red on the exterior of the pot. It is dark grey in the section. There are fine calcite and grog inclusions. The sherd measures 43.8 mm in length and is 34.2 mm wide. It is 11.9 mm thick and weighs 18.7 grams.

A base sherd from a Roman Oxfordshire red colour-coated ware bowl. Such vessels date from the mid 3rd century onwards. The bowl has a shallow curvature and there is an applied foot-ring on the underside. The fabric is light pinkish-orange in colour and has mica inclusions. The edges are heavily abraded. The sherd measures up to 73.7mm in diameter, 25.6mm high and weighs 77.75g.

The sides form a shallow angle (less than 45 degrees) and are heavily damaged around the perimeter. At the centre of the underside is a possible area of dark greyish-brown slip. The sherd measures 75.7mm in diameter, 25.7mm high and weighs 53.11g.

An assemblage of 13 pottery sherds of various sizes and vessel types. With the exception of one rim, all of the fragments are body sherds. Two are decorated with a raised ridge punctuated by finger impressions, a technique typical of Medieval vessels of the 11th to early 14th centuries. Two other sherds bear combed ridge and groove decoration. All of the sherds are abraded. All but one of the sherds are of coarse, sandy fabric and unglazed.
