TREASURE CASE: 2011 T743. A short length of gold strip from an unidentified object of uncertain date. The strip is rectangular in section and curved along its length. Undiagnostic gold object of unknown date. Treasure case no. 2013 T823 (not Treasure). Three pieces of gold wire soldered together longitudinally with 'punched' marks along the joins. Dimensions: 31.24 (length); 3.62 (width); 3.18mm (thickness). Weight: 3.29g. Analysis: Non-destructive X-ray fluorescence analysis of the surface a triple-strand wire fragment from Arreton, The Isle of Wight, indicated a surface composition of approximately 72-74% gold, 25-27 % silver and approximately 1% copper.

A gold-alloy mount of uncertain date, c. AD 43-1900. The mount is a flat strip of sheet gold, alloyed with silver, rectangular in plan with a punched hold through the centre of one end. The corners at the opposite end are bent and have torn edges. The entire strip is distorted in shape. There is no decoration or defining feature on either face. The object does not qualify as Treasure as it cannot be proven to be older than 300 years in age.

TREASURE CASE : 2013 T94. This complete ring is circular in plan with a circular section which tapers slightly from the bezel to the base. The ring is decorated with a band of applied beaded wire running around its circumference. The bezel is formed by eight semi-circular bands of beaded wire - four to either side of the circumferential band with the central two spaced slightly apart and the outer two being slightly smaller in size. The following specialists have said that it is not proveably more than 300 years old and so does not qualify as treasure. A complete gold finger ring of unknown date. The ring is constructed of a thin strip of gold sheet and has a visible overlapping joint where the ends meet. The exterior of the ring is decorated with a series of raised bands, with two bordering the circumference on either side of the ring and a wider raised band around the centre of the strip. The inner surface is undecorated and there are some slight signs of damage around the circumference at both openings. The ring measures 20.0 mm in diameter, 1.3 mm thick and weighs 1.68 g.
