An early-medieval pale gold Anglo-Saxon shilling (thrymsa) of the 'Crispus' type (Sutherland type II.iii: Roman, Crispus/delaionia) dating c. 645-665/70. Ref: Naismith 2017: 55-6, pl.1 no.12; Gannon 2013: 93, pl.2 no.21. Obverse: helmeted and cuirassed bust right, CBIPVS[...]OB CAES. Reverse: crude wreath enclosing a cross on a base, limbs terminating in pellets-in-annulets, two crosses in the lower quarters, partly runic and latin inscription, delaiona CAES (the latter retrograde).

A pale gold 7th-century Anglo-Saxon shilling modified for usage as a pendant or similar item, c.660-680 AD. It is of Sutherland type II.ii.var: Roman: Constantine (26var) with star-like object on the obverse instead of hand and cross as in Sutherland 26. The coin has been pierced and the remains of a separately cast cylindrical silver rivet are present towards one side of the flan, indicative of modification for usage as something other than a coin. Small hammered circular piece, apparently a Merovingian continental tremissis, of 7mm diameter and 2.8mm thickness, plain on one face but struck on the other with the motif of a double cross, formed of a single vertical strokes with two crossing bars or, if viewed at 90 degrees, like an H with a single horizontal stroke and two vertical bars. Both tips of each bar are swollen into an irregular enlargement flat above but expanded at either side, somewhat like a heart-shape.
