Object type: ARROWHEAD
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Lancashire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A barbed and tanged arrowhead, formed by knapping. It is made of a pale semi- transluscent flint with some inclusions. It is slightly flatter on one side then the other, and the tip of one of the barbs is missing. Having been found near a beach it has been worn so no sharp edge remains, but the shape is consistent. Arrowheads such as these, see also NMGW-24C12C, are classified as Sutton Type B (Green 1980) are commonly associated with the emergence of the Beaker phenomenon in Britain.
Dimensions: It is 21mm long and 16mm wide, it weighs 1.53g

A curved flint blade of probable Bronze Age date, 53.8mm in length and struck from a secondary flake of grey flint. The distal end has been worked into a triangular point with short semi-abrupt retouch on both sides. The flake has cortex on both faces at the proximal end suggesting that it derived from a nodule with a thick cortical layer.

Object type: CORE
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Hampshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A small flint tabular bladelet core of later prehistoric / Bronze Age date struck from a grey flint with white patination / re-cortication from deposition in calcareous sediments. There appears to be a single striking platform, with parallel removal scars around approximately half of the circumference. Some of these are partially patinated and some break the patination, suggesting several phases of use and re-use.

A small piercer or multi-tool made from a semi circular fragment of mottled grey-brown flint. One side is slightly concave and one is convex, both have patches of short low angle to semi abrupt retouch struck from both sides to refine working edges for scraping; the distal end has an offset triangular point which has been retouched for use as a piercer.

Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Surrey
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A later prehistoric end scraper struck from a secondary nodule fragment of dark grey flint with a light brown cortex retained over 60% of the dorsal surface. The flake has been removed by hard hammering and there is no evidence of a prepared striking platform. The distal end has long semi abrupt parallel retouch defining a working edge which has been largely obscured by battering damage, some of this is clearly post depositional as it has broken the patina.

An end scraper struck from a secondary flake or nodule fragment of dark grey flint with a light brown cortex retained over 40% of the dorsal surface. The distal end has long semi abrupt parallel retouch defining a working edge; there is also possibly secondary working or retouch evident along the left side long edge although this is less clearly defined.

A triangular flint blade of probable Neolithic to Bronze Age date, 43.7mm in length and struck from a patinated grey flint with a small patch of cortex on the distal end. The right side of the long edge towards the distal point has been worked with short abrupt retouch suggesting possible use as a piercer and there is a second patch of retouch around a notch on the left side long edge, suggesting that the tool may have been multi functional. This retouch has clearly broken through the blue-grey patination suggesting later prehistoric re-use of a much earlier struck blade, pos…

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A secondary flake of dark grey brown flint which appears to have been removed by hard hammer from a nodule and re-used as a tool, probably in the later prehistoric period. The distal end is triangular with steep sides defined by long and short semi-abrupt retouch into a working point. The right side long edge has scaled low angle retouch on the ventral face to refine a cutting edge suggesting the tool may have had a variety of functions.

Object type: BARBED AND TANGED ARROWHEAD
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Greater London Authority
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A barbed and tanged flint arrowhead, 31mm in length, dating to the early Bronze Age / Beaker period (c. 2500 BC-c. 1500 BC) and made from a pale brown flint. The arrowhead is triangular with lenticular cross-section and has scaled and low angle retouch on both sides. The barbs are longer than the tang and convex on the outer edges with obliquely angled tips (Type C) and the tang is narrow and rounded (Type G).
This example fits into the sub-classification of non-Fancy B&T arrowheads best described as Green Low types (Butler 2005: 162-165, after Green (1980).

A flint waste flake (debitage) probably of late Mesolithic to Neolithic date and reworked at a later Neolithic to Bronze age date.
The flint appears to have been hard hammer struck from a secondary flake, with a pronouced bulb of percussion and single striking platform with surviving cortex. On the dorsal face is a deep smooth concave thumb shaped depression with a single arise. There are crude removals, possibly damage at the end of the arise near the distal edge. The flake has been retouched on multiple areas with regular long scaled abrupt retouch comprising four rem…
