A copper eight maravedis of Philip IV (1621-1665) of Spain, dated to 1626 to the right of the shield on the reverse. The surface of the coin is heavily clipped and worn so that the numerals indicating the value of the coin are illegible but to the left of the shield on the obverse might possibly by part of a letter B for the mint of Burgos. Cayón (2005) illustrate a similar eight maravedis coin of Philip IV, minted at Burgos in 1625, on p.629, no.5328.

An extremely worn counter-stamped copper alloy Spanish 8 Maravedis coin of Philippvs III, AD 1605-1652. Obverse and reverse extremely worn and almost illegible. One side of the flan shows [1]64[] centre right. Rotating the flan on a 12 o'clock axis the other side clearly shows a punch stamped oval counter-stamp. Within this it shows VIII with a pellet above and an 8 below. The VIII is located below a 1.9mm (length) crack in the edge of the flan and is slightly upward rising.
