Neolithic stone axehead roughout The axehead is complete (with a length of 204mm and a weight of 419.4g) but has a little recent damage at both the blade edge and the butt. The butt is straight (with a width of 23mm) and the sides are moderately straight, gently convex and gradually divergent to the blade, reaching a maximum width (of 65.8mm) just above the blade (39mm from the blade edge). Stone sculpture; sandstone head. Orange-yellow fine-grained sandstone. Short hair, no fringe, cut around the ears, lumpy appearance as if thick and curly; there is a groove running from the front hairline just off-centre along the top of the head to the crown (possibly damage or meant to be a parting). Forehead has a bulge on the right and slopes downwards and inwards on the left. Simple oval eyes, now damaged, apparently originally undetailed. Top fragment of a perforated whetstone. The stone has a bevelled end and straight sides. The perforation is oval and has an hour glass profile. Both faces are smooth and dished from use. One face has a facet running along one of the sides.

Stone ball. Diameter 33mm. The function of the ball is uncertain; however, it is possibly a baking ball used to hold down empty pastry cases to stop them rising in the oven. Dating is problematic but if it is a baking ball then it may be relatively recent in date.
