An incomplete gilt copper-alloy Medieval cloisonné enamel brooch, dating to the late 10th to early 11th centuries AD, of the well attested Saunderton type (more recently Weetch type 20.A). Description: The brooch is roughly circular with 7 projecting rounded knops around the circumferential flange that marks the edge of the backplate. Each knop would have had a blob of enamel or small glass cabochon although only one dark cobalt blue setting relay. The base of each knop is integral to the backplate. A medieval cast copper-alloy single loop buckle dating to c.1250-1500. The frame has a D-shaped loop with an enlarged outer edge that is also slightly pointed. The sides are curved and the strap bar is very narrow and slightly offset. Length 21.5mm, width 16.4mm, thickness 1.6mm and weight 1.2g. Similar buckles can be seen in R Whitehead - Buckles 1250-1800, page 18.

Description: The buckle plate is folded sheet copper alloy, with two rivet hole at the end furthest from the fold around the buckle. An incomplete high tin copper-alloy or pewter scabbard chape of late Medieval to early Post Medieval dating (AD 1450 to AD 1550). Description: Only one half of the chape remains, likely the front plate. It has a wide scallop end with a small terminal knop. An incomplete pewter or tin-alloy Medieval (c.AD 1250-1400) D-shaped buckle with narrowed offset strap bar. Description: The buckle is small, with thin bars of which the strap bar is offset. At the opposite end of the frame the loop is swollen with three incised grooves creating ribbed decoration. The decoration wraps the front of the frame. The buckle pin is missing.
