Two fragments of worked bone. 1: This fragment has been carved into a fine point, and is semicircular in section. The inner surface of the bone is rough, as expected, but the outer surface is polished, more so towards the point. This may have been done deliberately for decoration or may be the result of a repeated action, such as pushing the point through leather? The object is broken at the broad end. A roughly squared piece of jet or similar black geological material, probably dating to the Roman period, c. AD 122-410. The 'jet' is sub-cuboid, missing one corner. The upper and lower faces are natural in appearance, having become removed from a larger piece by the natural cleaving of the rock, but two side faces are squared, suggesting that these were cut/shaped.

A copper alloy fragment of a coiled wire of possible Roman date (AD 320 - 450). The object is composed of one strand tightly coiled around itself looped back as a central strand. The individual strand has a circular cross section of 1.34 mm diameter. The fragment has two links present, connected by two (non-detachable) loops of copper-alloy wire. One loop is small and circular, the other larger, elongated and drop-shaped. The breaks at the end of each link are old and worn. There are some similarities to the wire in Crummy, 39, 1610. A shard of glass, quite possibly Roman in date. The shard is possibly a fragment of window glass, although it does have a slight curvature so may actually be the base of a large vessel. It tapers in thickness from 12.93 mm at its thickest to 7.43 mm. It is opaque and has many inconsistencies and air bubbles and this, along with the pale green colour of the glass, is perhaps supportive of a Roman date. In the absence of a clear form and a stratified context this cannot be regarded as certain however.

Fragment of Roman window glass with one original edge. A translucent pale greyish green in colour, both faces are matt but one is much rougher than the other. (This is caused by blowing a cylinder, cutting it up one side and allowing it to flatten onto a sand bed). 37.5 mm long (parallel to the original edge) and 19 mm wide, and just over 5 mm thick. The original edge is rounded, but slopes much more gently to the smoother face.

Fragment of window glass with small length of original edge. A translucent darkish turquoise, one face is matt and the other has a slight sheen with very fine striations parallel to the original edge. The original edge is evenly rounded to form a U shape. 22 mm long (perpendicular to the original edge) and 20 mm wide, and 3.5 mm thick. One oval air bubble (from blowing) survives.

1: A fragment of cast Roman pale blue/green window glass, roughly rectangular in shape, measuring 25mm by 19mm in size and 4mm in thickness.
