A copper alloy knop which is possibly Roman. The knob is 31.6mm thick, with a maximum diameter of 27.4 round the median flange. It is basically biconical, with a truncated and slightly domed top, concave upper sides curving to the medial band, and with the other cone elegantly extending into a shaft which flares out again at the bottom. There is a disc of metal on the base which seems to be acting like a rivet; it forms a thin, bruised, circular disc with a millimetre gap between the foot of the knob and the disc. The knob was presumably attached to a thin piece of metal, but not iron…

It is broken around the edges (the complete object would have looked like LANCUM-BD34A4), but the central 'coffee-bean'-shaped decoration on the obverse and one of the two attachments lugs on the reverse are still in place and undamaged. The mount would have been attached to a strap or belt.

A copper-alloy mount of probable Late Roman date. No exact match could be found for this piece, but its general form and its patina strongly suggest a Roman date. It may be a military type belt fitting. The object consists of a rectangular plate with ends which have been bent backwards, probably to help to hold it to a leather strap. At each corner is a punched ring-and-dot mark and, at the centre, a small copper-alloy rivet sits within a hole. The mount measures 18mm long, 13.1mm wide and 4.3mm thick (including the rivet). The weight is 1.08g.

An incomplete and corroded cast copper-alloy mount plausibly Roman in date. The mount is formed of two tear-drop shaped elements, addorsed, with lobed terminals. The two conjoined circles are convex; one of the protrusions has been lost beyond the circle. The extant protrusion has been bent downwards. Emerging broadly centrally from the lower surface of each circle is an integral rivet (L.: 4.3mm) with a hammered down end. The mount has suffered superficial losses through corrosion and is now a dark grey colour.

Cast copper alloy casket mount with lion-head decoration dating to the Roman period. The object is sub-conical, having a sub-triangular section and circular plan. The lower rim of the object shows signs of damage. An undecorated, smooth band forms the base of the mount, this being of varying length due to the breakage of the rim. The lion-head motif starts on the step up from the undecorated band. This forms the mane of the lion and comprises short radiating, curved lines. The next step up forms the eyes and mouth of the lion; these are arranged around the raised triangular snout…

An incomplete copper alloy object of possible Roman date, perhaps a fragment from a mount or similar. The fragment is sub-triangular in shape, flat, and flares outwards before curving inwards at the base(?). The outer face has transverse grooves above and below the curve, while the inner face has been left deliberately unfinished suggesting it may not have been visible when complete. It measures 22.26mm in height, 20.39mm in width, 2.90mm in thickness, and weighs 5.27g. A close parallel for this object has not yet been identified, although it is possible that it formed part of a la…

A cast copper alloy object, probably a mount or escutcheon of uncertain date. It is pointed oval in plan with stepped upper face and hollow, concave reverse face. At the centre of the front face is a raised square platform with concave reverse and central circular perforation. This projects vertically from a similar raised rectangular platform with vertical sides and concave reverse. Each of the long sides of the rectangle has two circular perforations at either end between which the base of the mount is concave in profile. At the short ends of the rectangle the plate extends downwards…
