Copper alloy Coin. Nummus or radiate. Brown concretion or corrosion entirely obscures both sides of the object. Suggested date: late Roman, 260-400. A hoard of base silver radiates has been reported from an adjacent field, and has been declared Treasure. The condition of this object, however, does not permit clear identification with that group, nor does its material appear closely comparable. Diameter: 20.23mm, Weight: 3.94gms.

Iron knife fragment. Wrought Iron leaf-shaped or oval plate of V section with a pointed end and a flat, probably broken, end where the tang would have continued. This is considered to be the blade from a whittle tang knife. Corroded and bent nearly in half. Though the form is known from through the Roman to Medieval periods, it is probably most common at the earlier part of that date range. Suggested date: Possibly Roman, 40-400. Length (as found): 40mm, Width: 26mm, Thickness (back of blade): 4.4mm, Weight: 14.86gms.

Copper alloy toggle, as kindly identified by the finder. A massy cast sub-spherical bead with four low ridges following the curve of its larger lower part, and with an integral loop for attachment. The interior of the body is hollow, which may have facilitated use as a dress fastener. One side has a flat area limited by the uppermost ridge which would have provided an apt field for enamel decoration. The finder kindly suggests an Iron Age date. While the dominant curve recalls Iron Age styles and the object may well have been made in a native tradition, the ribbed decoration is perhap…
