A copper alloy Roman coin with extensive wear and degradation of the identifiable marks. The obverse has a portrait head not dissimilar to Severus Alexander (AD222 – AD235) and the size would indicate that it is a Sestertius. The reverse has a standing figure, possibly Ceres with the initials SC to either side. The coin has the appearance and style of a counterfeit of the period.

Roman coin (follis?) of the House of Constantine found in the front garden of a house at the above NGR a number of years ago - probably re-deposited. Obverse: Right-facing portrait, likely to be Constantine or one of his children. The bust may be wearing a laureate crown, although this is not very distinct and alternatively it is possible that the bust may be veiled, depicting Constantine in death. The legend is not legible. Reverse: Two soldiers holding one standard. The visible element of the legend - ITVS - is likely to form part of GLORIA EXERTITVS. The reverse was struck too…
