Pierced silver siliqua of Gratian, reverse VIRTVS ROMANORVM type, mintmark and further details illegible, slightly clipped and with relatively wide (2-3mm) piercing near edge (which has worn through) between 2 and 3 o'clock (obverse), weight 1.22g, AD378-83 The worn piercing shows that this coin has been reused as a pendant and thus qualifies at an item of Treasure. It is quite worn but not excessively so. The reuse as a pendant probably belongs to the 5th century although a late Roman reuse cannot be ruled out.

This type was struck for Gratian, Theodosius, Magnus Maximus and Flavius Victor. Compare PAS-EFFE41 and GLO-6F0EB3. The coin has been clipped and hardly any of the legends survive.
