Roman silver finger ring.
Description of find
The ring hoop is oval, and has a smoothly swelling profile which expands from the base to sharply carinated shoulders which support an ovate box setting. The ring has a number of decorative mouldings. One is on the underside, which shadows the shape of the hoop, and the others are unusual concave triangular mouldings on either side of the bezel. The stone which originally sat within the oval box setting is missing; only traces of the solder or adhesive fixing remain.

Description of Object
A silver ligula, of normal Roman form, with a small angled disc, a quite rudimentarily-finished multiple disc-and-baluster moulding and a slender, tapered, circular-sectioned stem, its pointed tip broken.
Discussion
This type of object, most commonly found in copper alloy, was a multi-purpose implement principally with toilet and cosmetic applications, which included the removal of wax from the outer ear and the extraction of unguents from slender containers.

Treasure Case No : 2009 T286 This hoard comprises twenty-one silver siliquae and one bronze nummus. A late Roman course grey-ware rim sherd was found in the vicinity, although we cannot be certain it is associated with the hoard. The coins were found over an area 5 metres by 5 metres. A scattered hoard of 24 late Roman silver coins of the type known as silique, dating to the period AD 355 - 375. The coins were issued by the emperors Constantius II (5), Julian (9), Valentinian I (7) and Valens (3). The issuing mints are Arles (10), Lyon (6), Rome (2), Trier (3) and Antioch (1). Two (2) were issued from uncertain (i.e. illegible) mints.
A number of the coins were found in a fragmentary condition and were subsequently glued together by one of the finders.
