A complete silver finger ring with a carnelian intaglio dating to the late second or early third century AD. It conforms to either Guiraud's Type 2c or Type 2d (Guiraud 1989, 181-185). The finger ring has a circular hoop which is D-shaped in section. It expands to rounded shoulders. The bezel possesses an oval cell in which is set an oval intaglio. The intaglio is engraved but has been damaged. Ian Marshman identifies the engraving as a 'dextarum iunctio' motif depicting clasped hands holding ears of corn. A silver object of uncertain function, possibly a stylised model of a snake dating to the Roman period. The object consists of a rectangular strip which tapers at one end into a triangular point. This end is decorated with four globular mouldings arranged in a lozenge shape; the globular mouldings are separated from the rectangular body of the object by two horizontal, ribbed mouldings. The strip has been bent and rolled to form a loop. The object looped has a diameter of 19.99mm and a weight of 6.4g. It can be compared with NCL-DA8117.
