A small lead globular bead. The bead measures just 6mm in diameter and has a central hole of circa 0.8mm. The bead is decorated with a moulded curved ribs, giving the head a turned decoration. Probably Roman in date.

Probable lead ingot. The ingot is thick, roughly trapezoid in plan, rectangular is cross-section, and displays clear knife cut marks on all sides. There is a single deep knife straight cut mark at the top on one surface. The mark is 20mm in length, 2mm in width and V-shaped in cross-section. The edges of the cut are damaged on either side suggesting that the sides of the ingot were cut after the linear incision was made.

A worn piece of lead in the shape of a life-sized human finger. The object is three-dimensional and models the characteristics of a finger, such as the bend at the knuckle, the tapering to the finger tip, and even having a flattened sub-oval 'finger-nail'.
This object could of course just be a piece of waste lead coincidently shaped as a finger, however representations of body parts are known from the Roman world. These parts were often placed on shrines as a symbolic gesture for that particular part of the body to healed. Another Roman finger cast in bronze was discovered at Branst…
