A copper-alloy Hod Hill or Aucissa variant brooch of 1st century AD date (R. Hattatt, 2000, p. 318-321). The head is tubular, measures 10.9mm long, and has a central pin slot. The neck tapers downwards at the back and meets a wider raised ridge at the top of the bow. The bow tapers towards the foot and is squared off. A second transverse ridge is located two thirds of the way down the bow. On the reverse of the foot is a small, incomplete catchplate. The pin is missing and the bow has become flattened. The surface of the object retains traces of a corroded black tinning or silvering…
