Roman copper alloy probable vessel mount in the form of a bird. It measures 22.1x4.8xmax.5mm (not including attachment projection) and weighs 1.77g. The bird is D-shaped in section, and flat and even on the underside, except for the pointed beak that extends downwards (c.2mm long) and the projection at the centre, which is c.1mm diameter in section and 2.3mm long, and extends from a rectangular area 4.8x2.8x2.3mm. A strap fitting, probably of Roman date. The fitting comprises a loop and two integral plates, back to back, which extend beyond the width of the loop. The plates (only one survives) have a pair of large rivet holes and crenellated terminals. The rivet holes each have cast rings around them. On the inside face of the surviving plate is a cast grid for gripping the strap.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman bracelet. The bracelet is a distorted pennannular in plan with one terminal forming a small out-turned hook, the other terminal is a broken edge. This break is not recent. In profile the bracelet is an elongated rectangle, which is decorated on the exterior with multiple motifs. These motifs consist of a block of transverse grooves, a block with a horizontal linear groove with a row of ring and dot designs either side. Six sherds of samian ware pottery of early Roman date. Three are body sherds and three are rim sherds. Two of the rim sherds have external beads and one is plain. All the sherds are oxidised throughout with shiny brownish-orange slips. The fabric contains moderate very small limestone pieces and occasional voids, so the vessels were probably produced at one of the South Gaulish kilns. Total weight: 44g

A rim sherd of a Roman Samian Ware vessel. The rim is profile is a sub-ā€˜nā€™ shape with the exterior of the rim leaning outwards slightly. The interior has a small horizontal cordon below the rim. In profile the wall of the vessel is only slightly convex on the exterior and concave on the interior. The broken edges of the sherd are quite fresh. It weighs 2.9g. The sherd is Samian Ware, suggesting the vessel is used as table ware rather than used for utilitarian purposes. The vessel was probably a bowl or dish.
