Cast lead or lead alloy spindle whorl of Roman to Post Medieval date (1 – 1650 AD (probably Medieval 1300-1500). The spindle whorl is sub-circular in plan, with two pronounced faces. The upper is domed and the lower is relatively flat. The central hole is broadly circular and has been cast / set slightly off centre. The diameter of the hole measures 7.7mm. The whorl measures 27.2mm diameter, is 9.2mm thick, and weighs 31.55 grams. The spindle whorl is undecorated. It is a mid-light yellow cream colour with an uneven broken patina.
