TREASURE CASE : 2007 T187 Description of Object A silver ligula, of normal Roman form, with a small angled disc, a quite rudimentarily-finished multiple disc-and-baluster moulding and a slender, tapered, circular-sectioned stem, its pointed tip broken. Discussion This type of object, most commonly found in copper alloy, was a multi-purpose implement principally with toilet and cosmetic applications, which included the removal of wax from the outer ear and the extraction of unguents from slender containers.

TREASURE CASE : 2012 T736 An incomplete cast silver spoon of Roman date. The spoon consists of a linear shaft with a twisted mid-section which forms a decorative pattern. The handle and bowl are joined by an lunular off-set which is square in section and adheres to the underside of the bowl. The bowl is fragmented with approximately a quarter retained and a smaller central section which has been bent inwards towards the handle. This Roman base silver denarius has been abraded flat on its reverse leaving just the obverse (front) displaying a beardless effigy of Caracalla as Augustus (thus dating to the joint reign of Severus and Caracalla, AD 198-209). CURATOR'S REPORT Description of Find Rectangular Roman silver bezel from a 'Brancaster' type finger ring, decorated with punched and incised decoration. Outer border of punched dots, inner design of two back to back curving lines, possibly representing dolphins (?); in between the curved lines is more punched decoration in the form of a triangular motif. It has been published by Gerrard and Henig (2017, 248/pl. 5.44; cat. 44).
