An incomplete Roman ceramic Lowther's Group 1 and Betts Die 3, relief-patterned flue-tile dating from AD 150-200. A similar tile is illustrated in Betts et al (1997:53 Fig.27a). The front is decorated with relief-patterned rolled design in the "W. Chevron" group style. Betts writes "Keyed with wooden rollers applied when the clay was still damp, before they were put into the kiln to fire. This was added so the tiles could be more firmly mortared into place." The fabric is fully oxidised and red throughout. The interior side is blackened probably due to its proximity to a heat or fire. …

Copper alloy Roman brooch of Polden Hill type, first century AD, bow decorated with four longitudinal ribs, each marked with finely incised, oblique lines.These are flanked by narrow webs which run down each side of the brooch. The underside of the wings on the brooch's head is hollow to accomodate the coiled spring, now missing. At each end of the wings is a circular plate with a central hole to accomodate the axial pin that secured the sping. Cast copper alloy figurine of a fish of probable Roman date. The fish is carefully executed with clearly marked features: the eyes are large, represented by a 3.2mm diameter x 1.4mm deep hole in which there is a smaller central cavity. Around the eyes are annular recesses which appear to the been divided by radial ribs. It is possible that the eyes were decorated with enamel inlay. Roman, copper alloy brooch of 'Polden Hill' type, first century AD. Traces of silvering on surfaces, bow truncated but bore two longitudianal grooves. The underside of the wings is hollow to accomodate a coiled spring secured by an axial pin held in perforated plates at the ends of the wings. Each of the wings bears two transverse mouldings flanked by narrow grooves and a deeper, wide groove. The mouldings bear incised, transverse lines. Length 16.0mm, Width 23.8mm, Height 8.0mm, Mass 3.79g.
