Found with a radiate coin of Gallienus dating to AD 253-268 (WILT-E2E8D3), which had imprinted itself upon the vessel sherd.

A body sherd fragment of a pink/orange coarse ware probably of Roman date. The fragment is sub trapezoidal in form, rectangular in section, with breaks on all edges, and is slightly dished. It is a hard, rough fabric with very irregular fracture and with large inclusions of different types prominent in both surface and section. The inner surface is a slightly more orange colour. It appears to be hand made rather than wheel thrown. Dimensions: 11.5mm thick; 33.5mm max length; 32.1mm max width; 12.1g in weight.

A fragment of ceramic building material, a Roman box flue tile, dating to cAD 43 - 410. It is broken on all sides, sub rectangular in form and section. One surface shows combed (grooved) markings, the other has a rough, abraded appearance. There are some scratched markings on this side, the most obvious in the form of the letter 'V'. The fabric is bright orange in colour and there many inclusions of white/cream and dark material c3 - 4mm in length/width. A body fragment of Roman (AD 200-410) earthenware vessel, possibly a beaker, and probably New Forest colour coated ware, decorated with a group of four grooves. Measures 36.62x34.02x3.91mm. The fabric is highly fired and pinky-orange in colour. The colour coating is browny- black. Weighs 6.65g.
