The head and part of the bow of a copper alloy Polden Hill type brooch. The catchplate and foot are missing. The bow is decorated with a median milled rib with a ridge either side. The spring mechanism is intact and there is the remnant of the chord anchoring hook present. The original pin has been lost and its replacement is simply bent around the axis bar and bent back again underneath to secure it. It has been converted into a basic hinge mechanism. The oval appendages on either side of the head are clearly visible.

P-shaped double divided bow brooch. The semi-cylindrical head contains spring with approximately ten turns, pin missing. Moulded square ridge runs along top of head. The double bows are triangular in section. The crossbar at junction between bow and leg is moulded into a hollow. The leg has a has an v-shaped moulding just below the junction and is a D-shaped profile above this and the rest of the leg below having a slight v-shaped profile on the front. The foot has a double moulded ridge and is squared-off. The catchplate is complete and characteristically runs the length of the leg. …
