Lead pot-mend? Lead or lead alloy waisted casting sub-circular in shape, dished on one face (20 x 15mm) and slightly domed on the other (26 x 18mm). Probably a makeshift repair made from melted lead to fill a hole in a ceramic vessel. No trace of attached pottery. Date: Roman - Post-medieval (although Roman examples probably neater). Copper alloy Dolphin type brooch of plain and simple form. In profile it has the typical bow shape of a Dolphin brooch with a chunky bow humped at the head and tapering towards its foot. The plain wings are distorted but the semi-circular recess on their reverse, which accommodated the spring mechanism, is still visible. Part of the rearward facing hook on the head of the brooch survives; however, most of the catchplate and the spring and pin mechanism are missing. The surface of the brooch is pitted. Cast copper-alloy gilded disc, oval plate brooch with glass intaglio setting. Oval with raised edge which has a rope-work band on the outer edge and a lightly knurled upper edge. At the centre is a raised copper-alloy setting which holds the intaglio which is produced in layered light and dark blue glass imitating nicolo. The intaglio is engraved with a figure of Mercury standing right, holding his money-bag and herald's wand. He is naked apart from a cloak over his shoulder and an item of head-gear. Complete cast copper-alloy T-shaped brooch - Lower Severn Type. Headloop, cylindrical wings with vertical moulding at both ends. Slightly curving upper bow with flat upper surface which is decorated with a rectangular panel with a groove at either side. The panel has five lozenges; the upper two of which retain blue/green enamel; the surrounding field retains red enamel. At the centre of the bow is an acanthus moulding with two moulded horizontal ridges above and below it, on the upper surface and sides only.
