Two silver denarii, both in relatively crisp condition. Apart from siliquae from the second half of the 4th century and nummi from the 330s onwards, no other Roman coins have so far been found in this field. A copper alloy Roman coin with extensive wear and degradation of the identifiable marks. The obverse has a portrait head not dissimilar to Severus Alexander (AD222 – AD235) and the size would indicate that it is a Sestertius. The reverse has a standing figure, possibly Ceres with the initials SC to either side. The coin has the appearance and style of a counterfeit of the period.
