The two coins are: 1. Silver denarius of Elagabalus, Rome, reverse P M TR P IIII COS III P P, Sol advancing left with whip, star in left field, RIC IV.2, 40, we…

A Roman coin; a contemporary copy of a denarius of Severus Alexander (AD 222-235). The coin is made of copper alloy and silvered. The silver coating is wearing off in places. There is a small chip from the flan at 11 o'clock on the obverse. It is 19.6mm in diameter and 1.9mm thick. It weighs 1.92gm. The coin is a copy of a denarius of Severus Alexander dating from AD 230, showing Sol on the reverse. Cf Sear Volume II number 7910. Compare also to YORYM-3E3D32. The coin seems a little odd, and it is unusually shiny, so it is possible that it is a modern forgery.
