An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Colchester derivative rear hook bow brooch. It is missing the spring, pin and lower bow/ catchplate due to old breaks. The wings are semi-cylindrical in form, separated by an integrally cast rear facing hook. The bow is D-shaped in section, tapering to a pointed foot that is missing its tip due to old breaks. It has decoration on its front face comprising a central vertical rib that runs from rear hook to foot and grooves along the edges of the bow.
It measures 29mm in length, 21.9mm in width at wings, and 5g in weight.

It is missing most of the spring, pin and catchplate due to old breaks, and has suffered from extensive post-depositional wear and corrosion. The brooch has flat rectangular wings, separated at the centre of the head by an integral spring and hook, both of which are incomplete due to old breaks. The bow is oval in section and rectangular in form, tapering to a pointed foot. The entire brooch measures 47.1mm in length, 11.5mm in width at wings, 5.5mm in width at bow, 3 and 5.61g in weight.

A complete Roman copper-alloy plate brooch dating to circa AD 200-350, missing only the pin. It is oval in plan. In the centre is a recessed oval cell surrounded by a projecting rectangular-sectioned oval border. The cell would have been inlaid with a conical glass or stone setting which is now missing. Between the outer border and the outer edge are traces of gilding. Projecting from the reverse is a D-shaped pin lug. At the lower edge is a flat catchplate, much of which has now broken away. The reverse retains traces of a white metal coating.

A fragment from a cast copper alloy Roman finger ring. About one quarter of the ring survives including part of a D-section band with a convex outer surface and flat reverse. This expands from the shoulder to an incomplete bezel that would have been oval shaped. At its centre are the remains of a recessed incomplete oval cell which is empty of the intaglio that it might have held.
The finger ring is a medium green colour colour.

A fragment from a cast copper alloy Roman finger ring dating to c. AD 100-300. Most of the hoop is missing but the entire bezel survives.
The hoop would have been oval in plan and the surviving fragment is also oval in cross section. It expands across the shoulders to the bezel which is flatter in cross section and also an oval shape in plan. The bezel is decorated with two circular cells alongside each other. Between them there ins one vertical incised line and one further crescent line. Their is an incised border running around the bezel just inside its edge.

A body sherd fragment from a Roman Gaulish samian ware hemispherical bowl. Form Dragendorff 37 dating from AD 150-200. The sherd has moulded decoration, consisting of a band of ovolo, under which are panels divided by rope twist borders. Within the panels are standing figures and wild beasts. The fragment has a pink fabric and is coated in a red slip on both the inside and outside. The slip is abraded and worn away from the high points of the moulded decoration.

A copper alloy Crossbow brooch fragment, dating to the Roman period (c.AD 350-380). It has a rectangular section head with a collared onion knob at either end, one is missing, with a thin stiff copper alloy wire which would have passed through the head of the brooch, but is broken, this serves as an axis bar for the stub of a hinged pin. At the centre of the bow, between the onion knobs and at the centre of the body's head, is a circular perforation. The body, catchplate and pin of the brooch are missing. It is a Keller Type 4, Crossbow brooch.

A lead pot mend and a fragment of the ceramic vessel, of probable Roman date, AD 43 - 410. The mend is two discs of lead, one large and oval and one smaller and nearly square. They are joined by a short stem (making the mend H shaped in cross-section) through a hole in the ceramic vessel. Some of the ceramic fabric survives. It appears to be a greyware with frequent quartz inclusions, suggesting a Roman date.

The pebble has two shallowly convex faces and rounded sides. It would have functioned well as a counter or gaming piece. It may have been naturally formed but collected for use as a playing piece. A rim sherd of a ceramic vessel, probably Black Burnished ware of Roman date, AD 43 - 410. It is a rim sherd from a bowl with a dropped flange.
The fabric is relatively fine grained, hard and dark grey throughout. It has a very dark grey slip on the exterior surface although the interior has been left plain and coarse. There are sub-rounded to sub-angular translucent quartz inclusions. The flange is dropped below the pointed rim.

1. length 53.1mm, width 37.8mm, thickness 9.1mm and weight 17.03g. Wall sherd. Fine texture, fairly hard, black rounded and quartz inclusions.
2. height 30.7mm, width 52mm, thickness 31.5mm and weight 58.57g. Rim sherd. Abraded, fine texture, fairly hard. Frequent quartz and tiny black inclusions. Thick beaded rim. Rim diameter about 300mm or more, estimated from about 5% of the perimeter.

The wings are worn but rectangular and hide an incomplete tubular housing for the missing axis bar. The hinged pin does not survive but there is a slot for its head to fit into. A shell-tempered rim fragment from a vessel of probably Roman date. The fragment is part of the flat base and angled vessel wall. The in tact edge of the base is slightly rounded. Irregular breaks of dark reddish-brown sandy fabric with sparse inclusions of c. 1mm brown sand and abundant <0.5mm white sand and <0.5mm black sand. The fabric is darkened on the external surface, likely sooting.
The fragment measures 39.9mm in height, mm long, 34.3mm wide, 7.2mm maximum thickness and weighs 15.05 grams.

A wall sherd fragment from a Roman samian ware bowl, probably a Dragendorf 45 type, dating c. AD 170-260. The sherd is irregular in shape and comprises part of the wall and rib. The fabric is fine and orange in colour at the breaks, with a glossy orange-red slip on both the inside and patches on the outer surface. The lower portion of the interior surface is covered by widespread angular sand, which is very worn.
The fragment measures 69.4mm long, 33.9mm maximum width, 14.8mm maximum thickness and weighs 42 grams.

An incomplete, copper alloy Roman Colchester Derivative brooch of Polden Hill type 4 dating c. AD 75-175. The foot, catch plate, right wing, spring, and pin are missing.
The head is 15.38mm wide, including the left wing and the remnant of the right wing. The left wing is semi-cylindrical and has a pointed oval wing cap.
