Incomplete Roman copper alloy strap-mounted and skirted terret with all of the ring missing, leaving a hole in the centre of the four-leaved skirt. The pointed oval leaves alternate in two forms, wide with a median arris and a rounded horizontal knob, and narrow with a similarly shaped but upswept terminal knob. One of both forms remains complete, the other two having lost their knobs (old breaks). Between the upper end of each leaf there is a blind drilled hole near the four corners of the rectangular base from which the ring once sprung . On the undersid…

Just over a quarter of an elaborate harness fitting or similar, pierced through the centreline for a vertical bar (now missing) of iron, the rusty remnants partially obscure the top perforation. This end is depicted as a three-faced anthropomorphic three-dimensional head, each cojoined face shares an eye with the adjacent head so there are three eyes in total. Below this there is semi-circular bar in the form of a stylised dolphin, apparently biting the side of the faces, one remains extant, the opposing bar is broken but the stub remains with a trace of the other dolphin’s mouth…

Incomplete Roman copper-alloy strap-mounted and skirted terret ring. Only a short section of the harness guide-loop is extant, but the skirt and the attachment loop beneath it are complete. The guide-loop, as far as it survives, is bi-convex in cross-section. The skirt is lozengiform and has a small projecting rounded knop at two opposing corners. These corners are at the centre of two halves of the skirt which are angled downward. The ridge between the two halves is straight and the guide-loop sits upon it, oriented longitudinally. The attachment loop is circular-cross-section. It pro…
