A silver Roman coin; a denarius of Severus Alexander (AD 222 - 235) with Aequitas on the reverse, issued at the Rome mint in AD 222. The coin is hardly worn, but there are several chips and areas of corrosion. For reference see Sear Volume II, number 7856 which is identical except that it has a star in the left field. This is because it is from a different mint. The coin has a diameter of 18.5mm, is 2.3mm thick and weighs 2.36g. The silver has tarnished to a dull black colour.
