A copper alloy Sestertius of the Roman Emperor Severus Alexander (AD 222-233). Severus Alexander was the last Emperor of the Severan dynasty.
Sestertii tend to have very good portraiture on their obverse as the large size of the coin allowed the die engraver a good amount of space with which to work.
Obverse:- Draped and laureate bust of Severus Alexander right, legend around, 'IMP CAES M [AVR SEV] ALEXANDER AV[G]'
Reverse:- Pax advancing left, holding a branch and scepter. Legend, 'PAX [AVGV[ST]I S C'
