Copper alloy as of Gordian III (238-44), VIRTVS AVG S C, Rome, AD 240. RIC IV, pt 3, c.f. nos. 281/293b. The obverse legend has probably been transcribed incorrectly. It should read IMP CAES GORDIANVS PIVS AVG or IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG.
