RIC IV, pt 2, p. 153, cf. no. 1; BMC VI, p. 233, cf. no. 135. weight 2.73g, The recorder suggested that the black colouring means it might be a cast copy, but the features seem sharp and the surface does not immediately suggest casting. Protype Mint of Rome. RIC IV, pt 2, p. 156, cf. no. 12b; BMC VI, pp. 239-40, cf. nos. 208-9. The surfaces show evidence of a high tin content. This coin could well have been produced in the AD 240s.
