Chopped portion of a copper alloy as or dupondius of Maximinus I (AD 235-8), dating to AD 236 (Reece Period 11). Mint of Rome. RIC IV, pt 2, p. 145, cf. nos. 68-69; BMC VI, p. 231, cf. nos. 110-111. Obverse: [...]INVS PIVS AVG, bust right Reverse: V[...], Victory advancing right Weight 4.26g, AD235-8. The coin has clearly been deeply bitten by a blow from a chisel and then snapped.
