An incomplete copper-alloy Brooch of Roman date (AD 175-250). The object is a conical disc brooch of Hattatt's 'Tutulus' type, suggesting it is likely to be continental. The plate is circular in form. On the front face is a hollow central conical projection with three steps and a small central projection/knop. On each step the lip curves outwards. There is a collar to the central projection with transverse grooves. On the back face is a double pin lug with a retained axis bar. On the opposing edge there is a small projecting rectangular spur, this is the retained portion of the catch…
