A base sherd from a Roman grey ware vessel with sandy inclusions and a slightly burnished exterior surface. This is probably from a jar and dates to the 1st or 2nd century AD. It measures 68.86mm in width, 41.69mm in height, 13.69mm in maximum thickness, approximately 110mm in original base diameter, and weighs 76.78g.

A rim sherd from a micaceous grey ware flanged bowl with finger nail decoration on the upper surface of the flange. It is of Wattisfield area production and probably dates to the 2nd half of the 4th century AD. The sherd measures 49.23mm in width, 45.23mm in height, 20.30mm in thickness at flange (7.87mm at wall of vessel), and weighs 28.08g.

A worn and abraded base sherd from a Late Roman pottery vessel, probably a small jar, cup or similar form. It has an oxidised orange fabric with small white and black inclusions, probably Much Hadham ware (HAX), c.late 3rd to 4th centuries AD. The sherd measures 22.02mm in length, 22.80mm in width, 17.55mm in height/thickness and weighs 5.29g.

A fragment of a vessel of Roman date. The fragment is the base of a Samian ware vessel. The base is circular in plan and convex which is a standard feature of such vessels. Only a small amount of the vessel proper remains with most having been broken off. The breaks are very worn. There appears to be a makers stamp on the internal surface of the vessel though this is difficult to identify. The finder believes this example to be from either a Form 37 with curving sides or a Form 30 with vertical sides.

Find recovered after Cumbrian floods the find is relatively unabraded and likely to be associated with uncovered structure 2 on the floodplain adjacent to and probably associated with a Roman fort. A series of structures are indicated. The length is 25mm, the width is 21mm, the thickness is 3mm and the weight is 3.51g.
