A body sherd of a possibly Roman vessel dating to c AD 43-410.  The sherd has a reduced grey fabric with a fine matrix containing iron rich red inclusions and possible black quartz or sand.  A black slip has been applied to both sides of the sherd and there is evidence of wiping on the interior and exterior. Dimensions: length: 31.7mm; width: 25.5mm; thickness: 4.7mm; weight: 5.65g.

Two sherds of a Roman black burnished ware vessel dating to c AD 43-410.  One sherd is from the base and the other is possibly from the rim of the same vessel.  The fabric is dark grey-black with numerous inclusions of white quartz. Two rimsherds of a possible Roman greyware vessel dating to AD 43 - 410.  The sherds fit together and comprise a narrow beaded rim, although the top of the rim is missing from the small ersherd due to an old break. The fabric is a dense grey with numerous inclusions of flint and sandy quartz.  The interior of the pot is covered with black slip and the exterior surface has a red slurry applied. Dimensions: Sherd 1: height: 24.1mm; width: 33.0mm; thckness: 12.00mm; weight: 9.76g. Sherd 2: height: 22.5mm; width: 20.5mm; thickness: 8.8mm; weight: 5.28g.

A bodysherd from a New Forest ceramic vessel of the Roman period dating to c AD 250-402.  The sherd is wheel made fineware.  The fabric is a fine pinkish beige colour with occasional small iron oxide inclusions in a sandy matrix.  The surfaces are black slipped.  The size of the sherd means that it is not possible to identify the form of the vessel but it may have been a globular jug. A fragment of Roman box ceramic flue tile or voussoir block, dating to c. AD 43-410. The find is sub-square in plan, with an orange, oxidized outer surface and combed decoration, making six partial arcs. The inner surface is light grey in colour, with some voids (largest is 2.7mm x 2.3mm) as though organic matter was included in the clay. A Roman (AD 1 - 410) earthenware pottery lid, circular in shape, measuring 38.30x38.51mm 'in diameter' and 8.83mm thick. It weighs 16.2g. The fabric is sandy greyware with flint inclusions and smoothed edges (which have been cut and show an internal grey as opposed to the oxidised outer surface). It could also be an unfinished (unpierced) spindle whorl.
