Five wheel-made pottery vessel fragments of Roman Oxfordshire colour-coated ware. Comprising of two body sherds, 2 base sherds and one chunky rim fragment from a large storage vessel. The pottery has a grey core and pale orange red external slip.

Six Wheel-thrown Ceramic Vessel sherds dating to the Roman period comprising of:
3 Reduced Greyware coarseware sherds (one base sherd and two body sherds). The fabric has large and frequent inclusions of grog, moderate crushed flint and the base sherd has large voids indicating loss of organic tempering. The sherds range from light to mid grey exteriors with the core ranging from light grey to red-grey. Seven Roman ceramic sherds comprising of:
1 wheel-thrown vessel rim sherd from a jar or bowl.
5 wheel-thrown vessel body sherds including one with incised zig-zag decoration.
1 floor tile fragment in the same fabric.
The fabric is pink grog-tempered ware. The core is mid-grey and the exterior is light orange to buff pink. There are large moderate inclusions of grog, iron ore and occasional shell.

Six Roman ceramic Mortaria sherds comprising of:
3 wheel-thrown vessel rim sherds.

The fabrics are Oxfordshire wares including white ware, parchment ware and colour-coated ware with a white slip. There are the usual frequent rounded small pebbles on the interior surfaces that are found on any mortarium for use in the grinding of foodstuffs.

The fabrics are probably locally sourced wares. The fabric is generally mid to dark grey with a mixture of firing processes evident along the breaks.
Grey wares are not readily closely datable.

Theses items were found in association with other Roman pottery finds and the overall assemblage dates from late 1st to 4th century AD with the vast majority falling into the period mid 3rd to 4th century. The Mortaria have been dated c.240-400 AD.
