Thirty tesserae of Roman date. Overall weight: 658g. All the tesserae are made from tile and are all cuboid in form. These surface finds were found in association with Roman ceramic building material consisting of unclassified (Roman) tile, box-flue tile, tegulae and tesserae. These tesserae were discovered where the grassland had been disturbed during the very wet conditions at the 2008 Isle of Wight ‘Bestival’ musical event. The find-spot is very close to the site of Combley Roman Villa. Another 93 tesserae found 29/01/2009.
