A Roman ceramic tessera dating to the period c. AD 43 - 410. The object is sub-square is plan and rectangular in cross section. The fabric is relatively soft fired and pale pink/orange colour with a uniform colour throughout. It is slightly micaceous with probably fine saned inclusion of less than 10% and around 10% rounded grog temper, poorly sorted with the largest visible 2.8mm across but most much smaller. The edges and corners are worn and scratched but the sides appear angled so the slightly rougher back is smaller than the smoother front. The piece is 25.2mm in length, 23.7mm …

A ceramic probable tessera of Roman date (c. AD 43 - 410). Of a very high fined pale grey ceramic, fine grained with a soapy texture. The probable tessera is sub-rectangular and assymetrical in shape, with traces of cement surviving on three of its faces. Dimensions: length 27.6mm; width 19.3mm; thickness 20.3mm; weight 22.04g.

A ceramic probable tessera of Roman date (c. AD 43 - 410). The tessera is asymmetrical in shape, with three squared off sides and one side which has been cut on a diagonal line. It is comprised of a light grey ceramic with a fine sandy texture and occasional sub-rounded white quartz inclusions. The tessera measures 27.46mm in length, 27.25mm maximum width, 20.61mm minimum width, is 16.81mm thick and weighs 21.76g.
